Most Really Pretty Girls Have Pretty Ugly Feet by HNNY |
I'm not an eyeliner expert - but lately, I've been really enjoying playing up my eyes. Yes, the pandemic has shelved about 54-58% of my lip products (because they're not mask-proof) but, you know what - when life gives yah adversity we might as well take up the challenge to gain something from it, and for me, its been learning to line my eyes. Yeah, it took me a while but, here I am now - with decent enough cat-flicks that makes me wonder why I didn't get to it sooner (inner voice: you feared poking out your eyes and you still blink - me: shh!!).
Two products that have helped make this transition easy have been Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner and PS (Primark) Jumbo Eyeliner. Both products are cheaper than a chicken and chips meal deal so, you could forgo the extra 4,000 calories for a day (or three) and perhaps learn a new beautifying skill. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and when you're ready this post should still be here (tick-tock-tick).
Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner is a longstanding award-winning high-street favourite that only those brave enough to stoop into the realm of budget beauty will find. Thankfully, I relish a bargain but, I implore those who might turn up their noses at the price, to think again because this eyeliner isn't cheap & cheerful - it's cheap & marvelous!
It comes in a chic little bottle that rattles when you shake it (a ball inside mixes the product) and the shade is an intense black, not a watery and weak bluish-greyish-browny-black but black. The tip is fine enough to create thin or thick lines, and it's super easy to work with. Honestly, after perfecting the art of using this product, you can pretty much tackle all eyeliners. *Trigger Warning - you may start to feel foolish for spending over £2.99 on any eyeliner again*
P.S (Primark) beauty products come and go quite quickly, so I don't know how long this product will stay on the shelf, but I hope long enough for me to at least decide if I want to repurchase it. Just like the Collection eyeliner, PS Jumbo Eyeliner is a true black although it's not as matte. I find it easy to use, and since it's a felt tip liquid eyeliner there's no rattling required (extra lazy point), though I'd suggest storing it with the tip facing downwards, so it doesn't dry out. At a bargain price of £2, it gives Collection Fast Stroke eyeliner a little competition in the cheap chicken & chips department.

I like both products and like I've mentioned before - they're inexpensive, easy to work with, and have great colouration but, they also wear really well on the eyes. Yes, at times I have rubbed my eyes after forgetting that I put eyeliner on and it still survived. I've even fallen asleep (naughty) on lazy afternoons and found it still intact! The only thing I 100% don't recommend is to step out in torrential rain/bath/shower because neither are waterproof and it will not survive (oh the tests I do for you). Yet in terms of indestructibility, I'd say Primark is more robust (can withstand rubbing my eyes + tears) but Collection not so much.

Anyway ... I'm working on perfecting my technique (see eyeliner inspirations above) but my fav method to date - is to only line the outer edge (and sometimes the inner corners) to create a feline shape (see below) but, I'm still experimenting ... If you're new to the wonders of lining your eyes my 3 top tips would be: 1. study your eye shape + look at photos that inspire you, 2.practice, and 3. have an eye makeup remover + soft cotton pads/buds at hand because most likely you'll need them.

Alright, I'm done for today until next time ...
